"Unaffordable Housing" Needed: Economist

One economist got what he wanted in California, and then some. "(John) Husing, who is based in Redlands, used a curious term in making a recommendation to the city: Fontana, he said, needed more 'unaffordable housing.'"

You have to be careful what you ask for. "When I was making those statements, I was thinking of a market in the $500,000s. The fact that it has gone where it's going, I think, is beyond what anyone was imagining."

"The city still has a shady reputation with some people..that is sometimes still derided with the unfortunate nickname 'Fontucky.'"
